Fanny Kemble biography by Margaret Armstrong.
This is classic 1930's biography that, while not as scholarly as modern works breathes life into the story. It is a story of Fanny Kemble and her life which included first hand diary accounts of the horrors of slavery in the South. She was a strong abolitionist whose writings helped bring attention to the world and especially England concerning the horrific life for slaves in the Southern plantations. She was an actress that married a southern plantation/slave owner from the island of St Simeon in Georgia. She also wrote in her diaries of her life in the limelight in England and her early courtship. In the early 2000's a movie was made of her life with Jane Seymour. Margaret Armstong the author is best known as a famous artist whose art nouveau book covers are highly collectible--best known for her cover designs for Henry Van Dyke (blue and gold graphic covers) and Myrtle Reed (lavender and gold graphic covers).

Very pretty shabby chic book ...a quaint old fashioned read. Published in 1938--1st Edition. It's such a nice book to hold and display--lovely to read and lovely to add to your decor. It would be a perfect gift for the romantically inclined person in your life.(see pics and ck shop main page for more info policies/shipping/etc. --ask questions if needed)
