It is a typical Mid Century Demitasse/Child's Tea set with 2 cups and saucers from a time when time was taken to enjoy a moment from the cares of the day...a cup and saucer to use...pretty on the shelf and pretty in the hand...a perfect indulgence....
We purchased these cups and saucers from an estate of a lady who collected pretty teacups. She would have special tea time with children teaching them manners and tea time etiquette and the joys of taking time in everyday life to visit and talk with the special people in your life.

We Love Pretty Teacups and tea sets and are always on the "treasure hunt" for unique and pretty sets to offer in our shops. As members of the Daughters of the British Empire, tea time is a very special part of our life.

DIMENSIONS and SPECS: Fancy Handles and "footed" cups with embossed china shapes. Teacup is Child Size/demitasse approx. 2 1/8" tall and the saucer is approx. 4 1/2" diameter across. The cup is approx. 3 1/2" across the top at the handle, including handle. Cup is approx 4 oz size. Teapot is Approx 7 1/4" tall to top of lid knob Approx. 6" across top with handle. Approx. 10" around measured around at widest part of body of teapot. Teapot is approx 16 oz size. Creamer is approx. 3" tall Approx. 4 1/4" across top including handle Approx 7" around measured around at widest part of creamer. Sugar Approx. 4 1/2" tall to top of lid. Approx. 5 1/2" across top including handles Approx.10" around measured around at widest point of sugar bowl. Light wear to gold and design consistent with age and use. No obvious chips, cracks--some irregularity in rose decal and rough finishing of china/black spots from factory finishing--this is typical of the mass produced mid century china from Japan. The teapot, cream and sugar are marked Japan. The teacups and saucers are unmarked but presumed to be made in Japan. It is typical of the Japanese tea china from the mid century that was originally marked with a sticker and it is presumed that this has been washed off. It has the styling and factory finishing of Mid Century mass market production with some factory flaws (roughness and imperfections). Gold on handles, tip edges of teapot, sugar, creamer and edges of cup and saucer. The cup has Floral Accents on the saucer with lovely sprays of roses outside of the cup--there are rose decorations on both front & back of teapot and on the cream and sugar. It is typical of the mid century moss rose china tea sets so popular with ladies who "lunch and do tea". Please see photos as they are part of the description.
