Vintage White china/creamware pottery pots de creme--(pudding custard cups) set of 4 with lids. Vintage Pots de Creme Made in Italy White (Mottahedah Reproduction creamware). Mottahedeh Musee des Arts Pot De Crème Made in Italy White Creamware " Strawberry " Pattern. Classic Pots de Creme for Dessert custard or pudding--for a lovely Tea Time. Although they are the classic French Pots de creme design they also can be used for jam jars, sugar jars, condiments, covered tea or hot chocolate cups or a variety of other uses. Imagine using them at your sundae bar with special toppings and sprinkles for your ice cream. Perfect for that special treat. Useful and Simple decorative design. It would be perfect sitting on your table in your cottage or shabby chic decor. Pretty to look at and Delightful to use. So nice for your breakfast tray. Nice accent for your décor. Mottahedeh is a premier producer of fine ceramics and décor, often antique reproductions or inspired by antiques.
They have produced items for the Presidents of the United States, the U.S. State Department, the Diplomatic Corps and more.
These dessert cups are reproduced from eighteenth century designs from the Pont aux Choux factory, one of the first important French faience factories. The factory was originally established during the last years of the ancient regime of Louis XVI, to produce the delicate cream ware or white soft paste designs in fashion at the time.
The original cups of this design come from the collection of the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, France.

DETAILS AND SPECS: Set of 4 pots de creme cups with lids. Made in Italy Mottehedah Reproduction classic creamware Discontinued pattern that simulates the skin of the strawberry, with a flower bud and leaves on the top as finial. Nice round shape cup with floral accent on lid. Dimensions: Cups Approx 3 1/2" tall including lid top "knob" measured to top of knob X 3 1/4" wide and across top of lid including handle. Decorative knob shaped like a flower bud Hand formed/applied leaves (they are individually made/shaped and applied) Molded texture to simulate strawberry skin in cup/saucer (not smooth) Picture showing use with chocolate pudding in different pattern cup just for display--cup and spoon not included--not part of set that is listed for sale. Marked Made in Italy--(Mottahedeh sticker has been lost with use). Pre owned condition. There are no obvious chips or cracks. Two cups have orange tone marks--from factory finish under glaze--paint brush marks not caught before applying finish glaze. Care: Hand Wash Only - Like the originals, these pure white cups are made of pottery rather than hard paste porcelain and are not microwavable nor dishwasher safe.
