Vintage Footed Violet Teacup Made in Japan.  Lovely Violets with mother of pearl and gold. Delightful china cup and saucer ready for a "spot of tea"...so elegant...my grandmother always said that tea tasted better when drinking out of a china cup. The elegant mother of pearl luster and violets add a special touch to your tea time ritual. This teacup would be a lovely way to enjoy your breakfast or afternoon tea. This would be the special shower, birthday or tea party gift for that special someone who would love an indulgence. Violets are associated with St. Valentine's day and are an early token of love. Until the 1930's, violets were given a tokens of love rather than roses. It was very common to have a box of chocolates with a quaint bunch of violets on top. It is a typical Mid Century cup and saucer set from a time when time was taken to enjoy a moment from the cares of the day...a cup and saucer to use...pretty on the shelf and pretty in the hand...a perfect indulgence.

DIMENSIONS and SPECS: Teacup is approx. 2 1/4" tall to the top of the handle and the saucer is approx. 5 3/4" diameter across. The cup is approx. 5" across the top at the handle, including handle. No obvious chips, cracks. Fancy Gold handle and 3 little gold feet with gold on the edges of cup and saucer. The cup has Mother of pearl inside the cup with all over sponged gold on the cup and on the saucer with violet floral accents. Circa 1940's-1950's. It is marked on the china Rosetti Japan. It is typical of the mid century Japanese china that was so popular after the Second World War. Please see photos as they are part of the description. Use zoom feature to see greater detail.
