Lovely gold tone metal brooch with Rhinstones It is marked BSK with the copyright sign. Brushed gold cartouche shape with Rhinestone accents. Vintage Retro lapel dress pin. This piece is typical of the costume jewelry of the United States produced in the mid century circa 1950's. The firm of "BSK" was one of the more undervalued jewelry designers of the post war years. It was founded in New York in 1948 and continued in business until the mid 1980's. The letters BSK stand for the 1st initial of the owners Benny Steinburg , Slovik and Kalso. Their pieces were of average style and a good quality and were reasonably priced and were sold in stores like Woolworth's in the 1950's. They were given as gifts to mothers and teachers. The value for the quality is superb. This piece reminds me of the costume jewelry my grandmother had in her jewelry box. It is a perfect piece to give a vintage/retro feel to your wardrobe. Such a nice accent for your hat or jacket--a lovely accent pin for your Jacket lapel or dress--nice for a gentleman or a lady--a classic piece for your wardrobe. Dimensions: Approx. 2" X 2 3/8" The rhinestones are intact but they do have a slight darkening of some and the gold tone is a texture "soft" not brassy tone. It has a nice patina. There is slight wear of the gold tone on the back of the pin at the clasp but this does not show from the front. The gold is not worn on the front and is bright. The clasp is firm.
